Check kernel version?

Hello,
I know that I can use the "uname -r" or the "uname -a" commands to show my kernel version, such as 2.6.16. But if I'm running a "sub version", such as 2.6.16.43, does this command show the exact version of the kernel that I am running or only the main version?
Thanks for any advice!
