where's the ydl4.0 full kernel source?

Postby hexstar » 02 Nov 2004, 17:26

Ok, I'm trying to install the wireless usb drivers for my ydl4.0 install as outlined here: http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/s ... -key.shtml - however when I try to do make config I get through it all until it asks where the kernel source is...I saw during install it said it installed the kernel source somewhere, where would that be? I've tried both folders in /usr/src, one folder appears to only contain the header files (according to make config), another folder in /usr/src having nothing of the kernel source :?:...I don't have the additinal 4 source cds nor access to a ydl.net account (don't wish to get into how I got the cds but I will say I got them legally) so how do I get the full kernel source code to complete the driver installation? I'm a noob so if I have to download them from cvs or whatnot please give me a direct link, I would like to avoid having to compile a kernel and would just like the source to the kernel that comes by default with ydl4.0...any help is greatly appreciated and remember I'm a noob so please be easy on me and help me accordingly.

Thanks!

Well, unfortunatly unless I can find a place i can setup a temp webspace/ftp and put the kernel source rpm up on; id suggest compiling a new kernel. Yes ill admit that at first it can be a little confusing and difficult but w/ a little practice you'll be able to do one in your sleep for your specific hw. go to http://www.google.com/linux and run a few searches for compiling kernel how-tos or check out this one at justlinux.com http://justlinux.com/nhf/Compiling_Kernels theres also one on the ydl site ydl custom kernel howto
Til our paths cross again
