2.6 kernel (where to obtain and how to build FAQ)

Postby protoplasm » 08 Aug 2004, 06:52

Can anyone point me to a location to obtain the latest kernel and a FAQ on how to build these kernels?

Much appreciated,
Shawn

hi,
as owen said: getting a 2.6 kernel to run on ydl 3 is a "pain in the ass".
he pointed to

http://cvs.terraplex.com/~owen/2.6-rpms/

guess these are his rpms.

Ive had moderate sucess with using the stock sources from www.kernel.org; though you have to look in the docs dir and find the file that mentions which libs have to be upgraded and how to check their current version. I think that modutils; the ext lib and something else had to be upgraded for the kernel to boot at all. Like they all said it can be a very trying experience to get one to work.
