If you're using stock, unmodified YDL 6.1 - you don't need to update the kernel. This is already built-in - we call it ps3vram in YDL:
http://us.fixstars.com/support/solution ... am-as-swap

Note: You must have installed YDL 6.1 from this ISO: yellowdog-6.1-ppc-DVD_20081119.iso. If you installed from this ISO: yellowdog-6.1-ppc-DVD_20090201_NEW_PS3.iso, ps3vram support is not available. This "NEW" ISO was created to temporarily work around the advisory listed here:
http://us.fixstars.com/support/solution ... rnel.shtml
Currently, TerraSoft/Fixstars is listing this issue as fixed - most likely with a GameOS Firmware update.

As a follow-up - we did get clarification about the "ISSUE FIXED" message.

What this means is that the issue has been fixed in the next release of YDL. However - for the time being - it's still there. So - if you have one of the affected models, you have to use the ps3vram-disabled "NEW" ISO.
