Hangs under high CD IO with YDL 4.0.1

kernel: 2.6.10-1.ydl.1smp (Stock one that installed with OS)
I recently upgraded from YDL 3.0.1 to YDL 4.0.1. Since the upgrade high I/O on the CD results in the drive going nonresponsive (I/O errors) or hanging the system entirely (no response to keyboard or mouse).
Any clues where I can look for more info? Or a fix?
