ok since no one seems to know what i should try to do about this i guess there is a plan B:

can i make a YDL server partition that users can log into, use kde and all the apps and all remotly? i can install it locally but will i be able to use kde remotly (and quickly, it is a g3 600 mgz)

i want to use this for something productive, help me out plz.

ssh with X forwarding should do the task ok, but id suggest at least 256 or more preferably 512MB of ram for such an application

1 thats a heck of a lot of swap and 2. the hdd is like 100x slower then ram is a decent/resonable swap on that system would be like 512MB maybe 768MB it should be ok as long as you watch how many program you have open in KDE both KDE and gnome you quite a bit of ram they were made to run on the "latest and greatest" and TSS did enable alot of features that eat up ram. With some careful configuration (ie. disable a lot of the eye-candy stuff) it shouldnt be too bad. You might want to run something like gkrellm and watch the ram usage/hdd swap
