Vid/sound problems ydl 4.0 install

Postby thynis » 18 Oct 2004, 15:37

Ok here's the deal

Just bought *ugh* ydl 4.0 and installed it which was very painless even though it kicked over into 256 color mode halfway through for some unknown reason. Here are my specs real quick.

iBook 933
RAM 640
radeon 9200
etc... just your normal ibook

ok... it worked, but not fully....
I can only get X to start in thousands of colors... won't support millions for some reason?
It won't accept my video card... if I choose ATI Radeon 9200 (or any other ATI selection) from the list and restart X it has crazy flickering lines that run across the screen...
Now this wouldn't be to bad, but with it being in generic I can't even play tux racer???? It runs extremley slow....
It also won't accept my sound card... even though it let me play the sounds during the installation???

If anyone has any comments or help please let me know... TY!
When ever I get off work I will post my XF86Config file... see if that helps anyone out!

i had to do this to get X to work..

/sbin/insmod /lib/modules/2.6.8-1.ydl.7/kernel/drivers/char/drm/radeon.ko

comment out in the XF86Config
Code: Select all
ModeLine     "800x600" 25.2 800 824 920 960 600 611 613 645 -hsync -vsync

and

Code: Select all
        #Driver      "fbdev"
        Driver      "radeon"

then you can set your default depth to 24
