Try starting it from a terminal window so you'll see any error messages it generates.

finally got mplayer working, uninstalled everything and installed mplayer incl. kplayer and now it works,but....

when i want to see streaming video at www.uitzendinggemist.nl I get the next error:

could not resolve name for AF_INFT6: cgi.omroep.nl

Do I have to install extra plugins, like quicktime (is that available?)?
