G3 Powerbook (Pismo) Sound

Has anyone had any luck getting sound going on the G3 PB Pismo? I installed YDL 4.0 on it, and during the post-install setup, it detected the sound card just fine, and played the sound. Once I exited the initial setup window, I only get messages saying sound doesn't work (every boot).

Just wondering why it worked, then didn't work.

Any ideas? I realize the YDL page says that sound on the Pismo is hit and miss.
