whats the best card to use with linux?

Postby fluffy » 28 Feb 2005, 11:30

My sawtooth G4 came with an AGP Ati Rage 128, but no matter what I do, it seems to decellerate things rather than accelerate. furthermore, I have a PCI Radeon 7000 which strangely seems to make things much snappier, but never lets me escape 800x600 resolution or even allow me to signify in XF86Config that the card is anything but some default.

my question today is, is there some other card that tends to give good results for anyone running any flovor of PPC Linux? How about that ol' original Mac Radeon?

thanks for the input

Postby autocrosser » 01 Mar 2005, 05:56

I just went to a ATI Pro 9600 from OtherWorld Computing--cost me $109 configured for my Dual-1G---I pulled a Apple Stock ATI Pro 9000 (64 DDR)--$45 + shipping to you & it could be yours---I know that it works in YDL--I've got the XF86Config for it---If you want it--drop me an E--- 8)
