What apples are those?

Please elaborate. (Seriously - I have no idea of the context of your question.)

If you mean the apples on the right - they indicated graphically how many posts you've made to this board.

If you mean - WHY are they apples? Well - Yellow Dog is a PowerPC Linux - and originally the main PowerPC platform for YDL was the Apple Macintosh computer - hence the apples.

Paul

Yes, we should make them "Fixstars" instead.

hmm they should put the apple thing in the FAQ section. then what are the level for the apples? ie xx post =1 apple xxx post = 2 apples ahh and we can go further and ask what is the name of each level? ie no apples = ydl *** 1 apple = ydl newbie 2 apples .... etc etc

Yup - keep posting, and you'll see.

BTW - IIRC - no normal user can get all 5 apples. I think that's reserved for Moderators & SiteAdmins only.

billb was the posting leader for a long time. billb - you never got more than 4 did you? :D

No, I don't think I ever got that fifth apple as a regular user. :P

Here's how the ranks are set currently:

1 post - ydl newbie - 0
25 posts - ydl beginner - 1
50 posts - ydl lover - 2
100 posts - ydl addict - 3
200 posts - ydl guru - 4

YDL Developers, Moderators, and Admins have 5.

We can change these settings (rank names and # posts required) easily if desired.
