Is it just me or is there no persistent login cookie here?

Any ideas to make to board even better? Tell me!

Is it just me or is there no persistent login cookie here?

Postby crankwalk » 30 Jul 2008, 22:03

Everytime I leave the forum (or even if i'm inactive for a long time) I have to log back in. I'm always checking the tickbox that says log me in automatically but it refuses to do so. I've cleared cookies and used four different computers (XP and Linux) and three different browsers (IE6, FF2, FF3) just to see if it was something on my end.

I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing the same problem? And if its just me, let me say in advance I will feel foolish ;)

I think I'm getting the same thing here, or occasionally other strange issues like being logged in, viewing an old post, and finding myself logged out again instantly.

I've had that happen to me as well (viewing an old post and then being logged out) - I'm so glad its not just me! :D thanks for the sanity check. Now.. any way to get the board developers to look into this issue?

I must admit this login thing is quite aggravating ... I have the same settings on my phpBB forum and it works fine, but from what I have read it could have something to do with upgrading from phpBB 2 to 3 as was done here (I'm using a slightly newer version, though). I don't know that it's something I can fix myself.

Agreed! At least e-mail notifications work ;)

I PM'ed chriseh about this as well but no response. Are you able to get in contact with the board owner and share with him the information you found about the upgrade? Perhaps the owner could fix it...

Probably better to email him instead ... (though I suppose he'd be getting notifications of PM's through email). Terrasoft now hosts the board, so they should have full access to server, files, settings, etc. I just have access to the admin control panel, and from what I can see there it looks correct -- mostly matching my settings on forums.ps3bodega.com (where persistent logins work fine).

Ok, I think I found the problem. The cookie domain setting was set to a domain that I had used to test the initial install of phpBB (before we had control over the yellowdog-board.com domain). If the problem persists, please email me, or PM billb who can then email me.

Cheers,

Yep, that appears to have fixed it -- thanks!
