Http downloads for compiled nvu, firefox and kernel source

Well I've decided since I like YellowDog Linux so much and am using it and have even purchased a ydl.net account I might as well create a nice niche on my server for YellowDog Linux files, so here it is: http://ydl.johnscompany.net, the nvu and firefox compilations come with the full source code, you can find the nvu executable at /extracted/path/mozilla/dist/bin/nvu (nvu being the shell script that starts nvu), and you can find the compiled firefox executable at /extracted/path/mozilla/firefox-build/dist/firefox/firefox (firefox being the shell script that starts firefox) - enjoy!

Hexstar, as i mentioned in another post; I'd suggest having a statically link ver as well as the dynamic-this can cut down on some problems w/ incorrect lib versions and what not else

Yep the firefox download is static, not so sure about nvu though *oops*, if someone downloads it perhaps they could let us know here if it works on their mac or not 8) (not sure how to make a static nvu compilation, the mozilla firefox build page told me how to make a static firefox build, if someone could tell me how to make a static nvu build I'll do it and redo the tarball)

Hi,

I've been looking for a version of firefox that I can install on a YDL 4.0 machine. I have tried the free download from http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ but that didn't work. I then did a whole bunch of searches and found your post. I attempted to get on to your site but it currently it only gives me a blank page.

Do you guys know of any place I can attain a free copy of firefox that can be installed on YDL 4.0?

Mike

Thank you! Now how do you move it to be under the Internet Applications listings and then how do you make it default and put the icon ojn the top of the screen?

Interestingly the start up Thunderbird image is the one from 0.2 not the one since 0.8 and higher!

I found out how:

Firefox and Thunderbird 1.0.6 RPMs are currently available in a separate yum repository.
Add the following to your /etc/yum.conf file:

[firefox]
name=Firefox
baseurl=http://cvs.terraplex.com/~trenner/firefox/4.0.1/

and then do a 'yum install' on each of the following:
desktop-file-utils
firefox
freetype
freetype-demos
freetype-devel
freetype-utils
glib2
glib2-devel
pango
pango-devel
thunderbird

ie ('yum install thunderbird')

It appears that site is no longer updated, sadly.
