ydl 4 isos available for download

Postby linuxswitcher » 01 Mar 2005, 02:23

greetings,

after spending some 50+ hours just to get iso 1+2 by torrent, I discovered:

http://ftp.sunsite.utk.edu/ftp/pub/linux/yellowdog/iso/
:D

yellowdog-4.0-orion-20041107-install1.iso 19-Nov-2004 16:48 633M
yellowdog-4.0-orion-20041107-install2.iso 19-Nov-2004 16:52 636M
yellowdog-4.0-orion-20041107-install3.iso 19-Nov-2004 16:56 636M
yellowdog-4.0-orion-20041107-install4.iso 19-Nov-2004 16:57 162M

Are these the latest versions? Looks like it?

Thanks for this great forum, I shall probably need your help soon, as I am completely new to Linux. (writing this on a PC) The last time I had to compile code was wayyy back in 1988, Borland Turbo Pascal 3.0, those were the days :-)

I'm in the processing of downloading and burning the four ISOs mentioned above. Are these four sufficient? The YDL site makes reference to 8 CDs (four install and four source). Are the four source CDs only available via YDL store? And what am I missing without them?

Thank you for your time.

No the source cds are not necessary nor are they only availible from the store (most mirrors should have them) As i said before though; wait for the 4.0.1 isos to hit the public mirrors (or support TSS and buy a copy) Itll save you a lot of headaches. The source cds are good if you want to recompile a program w/ certain options

Okay, StarKnight83, you convinced me. I just ordered the 160Gb LaCie bootable firewire drive from the ydl store. In a more appropriate forum, I'll let you know how things go.

Thanks again for your time.
