Has anybody been able to load the bcm43xx module
for the wireless driver? I tried using the firmware cutter with no luck.
Also, the bcm43xx module isn't included in the 5.0 kernel.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

There are instructions here:
http://ftp.yellowdoglinux.com/pub/yello ... rtextreme/
README

Also, this guy claims he has got it up and running:
http://aegisworks.blogspot.com/

But I havent had much luck.

Not on PS3

Seems to me that guy got his wireless card to work on his G5 iBook, not on his PS3.

Sounds like you are right. But it seems to me that I've heard rumors of the bcm43xx module working. Can anyone confirm it? Thanks.

need the latest kernel, the hooks and interface on mailstream; but you'll need to download the firmware from http://bcm43xx.berlios.de/

Has anyone actually seen this run on a PS3? I have been on Linux wireless wild goose chases before.

The german site listed above says the driver is loaded since 2.6.17rc2. I am running FC6 2.6.18 and it does not show up as a wireless driver in the GUI.

The instructions on how to load this driver etc. are not exactly transparent.

PS FYI I put the instruction regrading ps3videomode in my .csrch file and the screen comes up nicely and outomatically in FC6.

Cheers

I'm using a linksys wireless game adapter. it plugs into the ethernet port on the PS3.

It works fine.

I can't even download the bcm43xx driver from this website. I dont have an svn or git tool installed on my laptop. Is there a simple ftp or http download site instead?

fyi the bcm43xx driver is for the airport extreme not ps3; from what ive read the hypervisor may prevent access to the wifi chipset just like it locks down the hdd partition and firmware

It would not surprise me if this was all shut down given the situation with hardware acceleration. This is an amusing toy but SONY has essentially removed it from primetime. An incredible waste.

I don't really understand why YDL 5 was released with PS3 support if one of the main components on the PS3 is not even supported with drivers.

Ask Sony, all these functions work on my laptop and have worked for years. Must be a deep strategy.
