Kool thread! I'm rocking Zerogame 0.52 atm and love it! I was wondering if there will ever be a way to get Dreamcast/N64/Gamecube/PSX emulation on PS3? I'd be happy with just N64 to start. In the meantime NES/Wonderswan/SNES/Genesis/MAME/TG-16/Neo-Geo/GBA etc work great! :D

PSX maybe. Although every PS3 can play PSX games in the GameOS - and that's already emulated. Unlike the PS2, which used a PS1 for its I/O controller, the PS3 uses a software PSX emulator.

The others won't be easy. Currently, the PS3's hypervisor prevents direct access to the nVidia RSX graphics chip. What this means is that Linux has no accelerated 3D video - only a simple, CPU driven, framebuffer display.

Since those other systems you've mentioned have more advanced 3D systems, you'd need hardware accelerated OpenGL to run emulators like this in Linux. And, with the hypervisor lockout of the PS3's GPU to Linux, this isn't currently possible.

There have been a couple of projects to try and use some of the unused Cell SPEs to act like a hardware OpenGL accelerator, but they're kind of stalled right now. :(

Cheers,
Paul

I hear ya. I guess N64 is a pretty long way from 8-16bit genesis/snes/tg-16 Idk what mame/gba is but maybe a 23bit at the most? As soon as they pulled other os and killed the 3 bypasses, I went out and bought a "used slim" and slapped a 500gb HDD in it. Did the 3.15 system to system transfer to get my protected saves off my phat. That way sony made no money off of me and I have 3.41 slim & 3.15 phat. I love it! I'll never give up my other os! I kind of like my phat with no psn. I allocated all but 10 gigs to other os. Now I got a 320gb phat with most allocated to Linux. :)
I use my phat for games made b4 May 2010, Blu-ray, Vuze/Play-On/TVersity, Zerogame & Linux. I use my slim for XMB browser(puke), Games made after May2010, PSN, Online/Multiplayer games & PSHome. That way less wear & tear on both.
