In case the other thread that lists these gets buried...

Install Additional Repos for YDL 6

Instead of the additional repos used for YDL5 in the guide at the top of this forum, you can use these instead:

fedora-extras.repo

[fedora-extras]
name=Fedora Extras
baseurl=http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/6/ppc
gpgcheck=0

livna-stable.repo

[livna-stable]
name=Livna.org Fedora Compatible Packages (stable)
baseurl=http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/6/ppc
gpgcheck=0

dribble.repo

[dribble]
name=Dribble for Fedora Core 6 - ppc
baseurl=http://dribble.org.uk/repo/6/ppc
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0

if we find a local mirror such as this one is aus -
http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/yellowdog/

can we just change our base, updates and extras repos to point to the local mirrors to get super fast downloading of rpms?

Seems like that would work OK...

It isn't finding this one: rtld(GNU_HASH)

So you'll need to get it from another source ... maybe it's on the Fedora Core 6 download server. The link to that is in the guide.

EDIT: Oops ... err ... what version are you running? YDL 5 or 6?

YouTube in YDL 5? No - sorry. :(

Gnash doesn't run YouTube, and that's the easiest Flash-workalike plugin that you can get to work in 5.0.

YDL 6.0 users can use an alternate Flash-workalike called swfdec that seems to be able to handle YouTube.

By the way - this isn't a PS3 or YDL issue, per se. Adobe has not compiled a version of Flash for PowerPC Linux.

Cheers,
Paul

Sure - there's a few posts on this forum. You can use Search above to find posts like this:

Same for me. I cut and pasted out of the top post. Yum would not reconize them until i deleted the .repos and added them to yum.conf. Is there a step missing that activates those repos?

I'm not sure why that occurs, but a few users have reported having to do it that way instead. No steps are missing.

I try to install the fedora-extras repo. I fallow every step.. when I get to the last step where I type: yum repolist.. Im getting this:

repo id repo name status
base Yellow Dog Linux 6 Base enabled
extras Yellow Dog Linux 6 Extras enabled
updates Yellow Dog Linux 6 Updates enabled

Im not getting the new repos, why is this? I fallow every step and type correctly using gedit and also the save as.

Re: Howto: Install software (the easy way) YDL 5

Hi, I was wondering if I should do these repos in 6.2. Or does 6.2 already have them? Sorry, I'm not on my PS3 and haven't checked yet. Figured I'd ask because I want as many sources for software as possible even with my 10GB Partition. Thanks
Back on the attack after using 5.0.2. Ready to get this 6.2 up and running!
