If they're Java, and they don't require 3D OpenGL (aka JOGL), they should work fine. The IBM Java is a real, Sun-licensed Java, not an open source clone.

Installed IBM Java following the steps 1 by 1 , I can see it at the Add/Remove Software ... But , when I do " java -version " here's the result ;
- Code: Select all
java version "1.4.2"
gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-52.ydl.1)
Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

then tried " which java " to be sure that I did what you say ;
- Code: Select all
/usr/local/bin/java
So , whats wrong with it , any ideas ? Should I remove 1.4.2 before IBM java installation ??

I need someone to actually try it for me because I've been on machines where they should work fine before but didn't.

I downloaded IBM file and when I try to install it i get an error message saying it is unable to retrieve software information because of a network connection issue. I tried to go through add/remove programs and as soon as i open the app i get a similar message and the program shuts down. My wireless network is operating just fine. Any ideas
