I went ahead and updated the guide with the new location for fedora-extras.repo. Temporarily removed link to the "ezrepos" rpm package until I have a chance to update it.

I want to install the newest versions of Thunar, Audacious, VLC and Pidgin because all of them within the repositories are outdated. I tried to build Thunar from source but I failed after hours of wasting my time with finding dependencies of packages and trying to compile and install them.
So, if some of you already compiled and installed one of those apps please share your knowledge with the rest of the community to get the newest versions of those apps running on our beloved YDL @ PS3. Thanks in advance!

Do you have a YDL.net account? If not, you probably selected that you did during the installation. This confuses YDL. :D

If I remember correctly, you shouldn't have to re-install. You will need to edit your yellowdog-base.repo, yellowdog-extras.repo, and yellowdog-updates.repo to match the listings in the first post of this thread. Those listings are for non-YDL.net accounts.

There is a step-by-step guide to fixing that issue here:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4785

Scroll down to the [Errno 14] HTTP Error 401: Authorization Required section.

Cheers,
Paul

Make sure there are no blank lines or spaces at the beginning of your livna-stable.repo file.

:?: Hi, I unknowingly installed YDL 6.1 on my PS3 80GB and had a lot of problems. I switched to 6.2 using a new install DVD and the results are much better (more performance and less errors especially using KDE). The big problem I'm having is that every time I do a yum update or try a yum install it takes forever and usually the wireless signal drops out. Unless I constantly monitor with pings and 'wicd' I never get a clean download (it took an hour to get the gstreamer bad/ugly plugins). My router (D-LINK DGL-4300) doesn't show any unusual errors. The signal drop also occurs when I do some heavy web browsing. A a footnote, my wireless laptop works fine when I use it in the same room/area (3-5 bars signal strength). Also, I used a wireless tuturial I found in this forum. I was wondering, is it possible, to download a rpm (on another computer) and use yum to install it? Would it list the dependencies? What would be the best site to get the software from? As an example, I would like to VLC and some of the libraries/plugins that go with it. I tried disabling the other repositories (like fedora-extras) with no noticeable results. Anyway, until I get the wireless issue solved are there any suggestions? By the way, as a newbie, I was impressed that Yellowdog was able to read my 1TB WD NTFS drive with my giving it a mount command. (PS3 80GB F/W 3.0 720P YDL 6.2)

I think it would be possible to install using "software installer" but I'm not sure if you still need an internet connection, if there are missing dependencies I can't remember if they're listed or if it just says "missing dependencies".
The best place to look for rpm's would be the actual repos themselves, look in /etc/yum.repos.d copy and paste the address in the browser, you know the rest :D
