help with duke nukem

this i what i get when i type in duke3d.sh,going to see if i cant fix um.

Eww... Looks like what happens when I try to use the demo version data files. The full version has a much larger duke3d.grp file -- about 44 MB. What does your /usr/games/duke3d folder look like now?

hmmm wel my duke3d folder looks like this

the other .cfg file is because it wouldn't let me run duke3d.sh without putting it in the hidden home .duke3d/duke3d.cfg, i can get it to the menu screen iin dosbox but it wont go any further then that. could very well be because it is in fact a demo. you where also using version1.4 and i was using 1.3d

well still working on duke nuke 3d but i found duke nukem 2 a side scrolling game that run run on dosbox if any on is interested.

success, I am truly a determined individual.. thank you for the rpm file billb, i went to my dad's house to hop on my computer because i loaned it to him when his fried i figure the ps3 is as good as computer as any. anyways I installed duke3d over on that computer and got the files bill had in his folder, put it on a usb drive and back to the house i went. I put the duk3d.cfg in both the usr/games/duk3d folder and the hidden folder (.duke3d/duke3d.fg)in the home directory. copied the user,game,def.con and the duke3d.grp to the usr/games/duke3d where bills two files that com in the rpm are and voila...................IT WORKED ...............thanks billb

:lol: That is good news!

Be sure to edit that ~/.duke3d/duke3d.cfg file and change your resolution so it fills the screen. Also be sure you set you set MixRate = 48000. Otherwise the sounds won't play properly. Glad you got it working, and plus you can say it was an educational experience. :wink:

I've updated the rpm now so it installs a default duke3d.cfg file in /usr/games/duke3d and the first time you run it. I included a screen resolution of 512x384 in the default duke3d.cfg file so users running in 480i bordered mode won't have problems, and already have the mixrate set at 48000.

ok so i did the math for the dimensions [mindy..@localhost ~]$ xdpyinfo | grep dimensions
dimensions: 1920x1080 pixels (508x286 millimeters)ok and i got 1439.64 is this what im supost to have? round it off to 1440? If thats correct it dose not work for me becuse when i do this in root it stays the same.But when i swich back to gnome it is to the hight is good but the width is narrow and hard to see. so this is what my conf file looks like [Setup]
