Brings a tear to my eye. Sure beats the Suzuki Ninja.
PS3 40GB has YDL 6.1 running 480i on a piece of $#!% Sanyo 24 incher. Need to go to 1080p.

what's that fluxbox I see on most of those desktops? does that take place of the other menu? oh yeah, is YDL considered a gnome or KDE setup? (it should be completely obvious that I have no clue what I am talking about at this point)

Hello
fluxbox is a "window manager" used as an alternative to a full desktop enironment and an older version can be got from add/remove software, it is (initially) very basic and minimalist but uses very little in the way of resourses, mostly because it doesn't permanently run a file manager in the background.
If you're new to ydl I'd stick with gnome for now it's got everything you need to get started and has plenty of bling :D

I'm a bachelor, so if I show my desktop I'll get kicked off the board for inappropriate content.

Sorry about that !

How did you get the doom icon? :?:

And how do you make the menu and base-bar transparent like that?? :?: :!:

Thanks!

Heh - you guys are gonna laugh - but most of the time I use E17 to help YDL newcomers. So - this is my desktop:

Cool background, huh? That's from the method described here:

Funny -- I use the very same image for my background on Gnome. :D

I don't think you can really call my desktop a desktop. No icons, no nothing, because I use fluxbox with the BlueFlux style. Very minimalistic. My desktop on the PS2 was pretty much the same with a different background (tux on blue)

Yes, but with reasonably good performance on the PS3, which is why I can regularly use Firefox on YDL6.1 rather than the Dillo or links I used regularly with Linux on the PS2.
