How do I make the fonts bigger in all my menus and apps?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to make the fonts bigger on my shelves and the menus and apps. I looked around in all the preferences and configurations and couldn't figure it out. For example, the menus and address bar in firefox are all very small on this 46" widescreen television, and I was wanting to make them a bit larger so they are easier to read. Same with snes9x or gedit or any other application or menu. Now I have the actually shelves already scaled to a larger size, but it didnt make the fonts larger. And I've got all the fonts inside firefox larger and easier to read. I just can't figure out how to make the actually menu and app font's larger. Thanks!
