Help with sharing files on network

Hello,

Could somebody more knowledgeable than I please help me? I am able to share files across my network no problem from the GameOS, but I am unable to get any sort of response from my pc (Windows XP, files shared via Windows Media Player) when on the YDL side. I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps on this site and have gotten nowhere. I suspect that it may have to do with the way that my wireless connection is set.

I followed Stephen Venter's guide and tweaked the wpa_supplicant file and took other steps to get my wireless working (WPA connection)...however, upon a reboot of the system I must manually connect to the internet everytime by activating wlan0 under network settings.

Because this is not the norm for most people (I would also like to troubleshoot that problem to make it automatically connect each time) , I was thinking it may relate to my inability to see devices on my network.

Also, pinging the IP of my other devices returns nothing..

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!
