We've already told you three times now, but I'll repeat myself one more time.

Go back to the first post in this thread. It's linked here:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4785#p25379

Scroll down until you see the section marked Still having problems? How to ask for help?

Follow those steps and post the result as a reply here.

NOTE: We're not asking you to do this to be difficult. This is really the only way we can help you in a timely, effective manner.

Cheers,
Paul

Okay - from a terminal window - type this:

su
cd /etc/yum.repos.d
rm livna-devel.repo
rm livna.repo
rm livna-testing.repo

Then - you'll have to edit livna-stable.repo to match this:
Code: Select all
[livna-stable]
name=Livna for Fedora Core 6 - ppc - Base
baseurl=
   http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/6/ppc/
   http://livna.cat.pdx.edu/fedora/6/ppc/
   http://wftp.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/linux/livna/fedora/6/ppc/
   http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/rpm.livna.org/fedora/6/ppc/
   ftp://mirrors.tummy.com/pub/rpm.livna.org/fedora/6/ppc/
failovermethod=priority
#mirrorlist=http://rpm.livna.org/mirrorlist-6
enabled=1
protect=0
gpgcheck=0

If you still have your terminal window open, you can use gedit to do this:
gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/livna-stable.repo

For future reference, you can't use the livna RPM to install on PowerPC machines - that only works for x86 processors.

Cheers,
Paul

If you're referring to the "code" for the livna-stable.repo file, you definitely don't want any extra spaces at the beginning of each line. It should look exactly as displayed.

It doesn't matter as long as there's at least one space - it's customary to use 3 spaces. Only these lines should be indented - all the rest should have no indent:

Code: Select all

   http://livna.cat.pdx.edu/fedora/6/ppc/

Hello
I notice "protect=1" is missing from snodgrss 1984's repos, you do have yum-protectbase installed right ? and if so you'll need to add that line for it to work viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3017#p11364

DON'T FORGET - THE VERY FIRST THING YOU NEED TO DO IS INSTALL PROTECTBASE.

OTHERWISE, LIVNA AND FEDORA WILL INSTALL INCOMPATIBLE SOFTWARE AND RUIN YOUR INSTALLATION.

AGAIN - LET ME BE CLEAR

IT WILL RUIN YOUR INSTALLATION IF YOU DON'T DO THIS:

yum install yum-protectbase

Then - after that's done.

echo 'protect=1' >> /etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-base.repo
echo 'protect=1' >> /etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-updates.repo

I followed every step, and when it finished I couldn't open add/remove progams. Any idea why? Then my root, and user password wouldn't work. I gave up and reinstalled YDL 6.1.

Hello,
Yesterday I installed yd 6.1. Unhappy with the interface I decided to install fluxbox. I was exhausted had no clue what I was doing and the result was now upon start up I receive an error stating: Cannot open theme file/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/CentOSCubes.
The sign in screen is striped down and when I log in whether it be E17, default or another option I notice the gui is all messed up. No files on the desktop, no status bar, i cannot open folders because the program will not load to do so. I am completely ignorant to linux and am in need of help to get it fully functional. All help is greatly appreciated.
