Maybe just a temporary problem? I'm able to access it directly:

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/6/ppc/repodata/repomd.xml

Can you post your fedora-extras.repo file?

Code: Select all

Please make sure your /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-extras.repo file matches what is listed in this guide:

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3017

(you shouldn't be using mirrorlist -- it worked for a while but not any more)

I initially set everything up using that guide, and all was working fine until now? I'm not quite sure what you mean about mirrorlist - should I delete that line with gedit?

EDIT: I recopied the fedora extras repo from your guide and overwrote the file using gedit. But I left the mirrorlist thing in (wasn't sure what exactly to remove) and the add/remove software is now working.

Is there anything else I need to do before I install new software? I don't want to mess anything up. :)

For a short period of time, the guide was set up to have fedora-extras use the mirrorlist line because it was working, but not long after that it stopped working and I had to change it. Could be you followed the guide at that point.

Confirm that yum-protectbase is installed and that you have protect=1 in yellowdog-base.repo, yellowdog-extras.repo, and yellowdog-updates.repo, then you should be good to go.

To confirm install of protectbase, use:

Code: Select all
rpm -q yum-protectbase

First of all thanks for this forum and i want to say that i followed all the instructions to install ydl on my ps3 and everything i needed like the emulators, etc, and was working very good i didn´t have any problem, well the problem is that i update the software for the first time, and since then i cannot run the snes9x-gtk and sdlame i get an error message saying that i don´t have libaudio.so.2 installed, i did some research and found that there is a new version of nas 1.9.2 released 03/07/2009 i don´t know if this is the problem.

Thanks in advance.

note: i´m not in my ps3 right now, and like many of the members of the forum i´m very new to linux.

Hmm - that's not good. I think this means is that you've got an Intel (x86) version of /usr/lib/libaudio.so.2 - not a PowerPC (ppc) version.

Where did you get libaudio.so.2 from? Was there, perhaps, an i386 or i686, in the RPM file name?

Cheers,
Paul

Well - you can check to see what RPM you installed this way. Open up a terminal window, and type this command exactly as shown:

rpm -qa | grep nas

If you did install a non-ppc nas rpm, you can remove it. You'll have to be root user to do this - so the commands from a terminal window would be:

su
(your root password)
rpm -e rpm_name_as_shown_from_output_of_rpm_-qa_command_above

It sounds like you've installed an x86 version of nas - that's why you can't install the ppc version. You have to remove the other one first.

Also - Fedora 9 might be a problem. YDL 6.1 is only compatible with Fedora 6 or so. That's why we use older servers in our repos.

Paul

the output of rpm -qa | grep nas

nas-libs-1.9.1-4.fc9
gnash-0.8.2-4.ydl.bdg
gnash-plugin-0.8.2-4.ydl.bdg

when i tried to install nas-1.9.1-2.fc6.ppc.rpm i get this error [('file /usr/lib/libaudio.so.2.4 from install of nas-1.9.1-2.fc6 conflicts with file from package nas-libs-1.9.1-4.fc9', (7, '/usr/lib/libaudio.so.2.4', 0L))]

also tried to remove it with rpm -e nas-libs-1.9.1-4.fc9 and get this error: Failed dependencies:
libaudio.so.2 is needed by (installed) SDL-1.2.13-1.ppc

i'm starting to get worry

It is correctly listed in this post:
Howto: Install software (the easy way) YDL 6

Your repo should match that one.

Cheers,
Paul

P.S. Another thing you can do is click on the links in question. Since only the first one of the two you posted works, I'd say that's a big hint. :D

Error Resolving Dependencies

Postby Jester » 24 Jul 2009, 20:39

So I had snes9x-gtk working, but then I messed up all of my file paths while playing around and then absolutely nothing would work, it was pretty freakin awesome, so I recently (like yesterday) reinstalled 6.1 and did all the good repo stuff. I grabbed snes9x again and I get the same error with the libportaudio.so.2 only now when I try to install the package i get this error

"Missing Dependency: libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.7) is needed by package portaudio"

I'm not entirely sure if it is the same package or not, (my friend did it last time. He also says he can't remember getting this dependency issue last time he got libportaudio.so.2) but I can't install libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.7), it comes up with one error about a bunch of files conflicting with the installation. I haven't found any rpm sites (i only looked at 2 or 3) with a small package that contains libc.so.6, all of them are freakin massive, like 4MB of info on them. I am getting libportaudio.so.2 from this site

"ftp://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/fedora/development/i386/os/Packages/portaudio-19-8.fc11.i586.rpm" actually that is the download link but i think it will work just the same. You guys have any idea what I need to do?
