Hello
I'm having some confusion, I have enabled billb's bodega testing repo and when I run pirut and search for kernel, there is no 2.6.29-5 kernel listed only the source, headers, debuginfo and doc, the same happens when I try vlc, the 0.9.5 is listed but not 0.9.8, if I go direct to the web page/repo they are there :?
I ran yum clean all, same result
I've been trying to install jaybps3's kernel with no luck, also just out of interest anyone know where I can get mplayer as a ppc rpm ? uncholowapo's gnome mplayer rpm can't find my mplayer build when I try to install it, or better still a way to point rpm/yum at /usr/local/bin/mplayer
thanks y'all :D
60Gb ps3 otheros awol. currently playing:bad company and farcry 2 again (seeing how far I can get using permadeath principle)update: regretfully Warren Clyde was involved in a shootout south of Pala and killed when he was hit by a land rover. RIP Warren

That's odd ... will have to check on it.

0.9.5 is the version of vlc I have in there currently. If the repoview is still showing 0.9.8 try refreshing the web page.

Screwing around for the past few days....YDL 6.2 is up and running. I installed ps3bodega (thank u, bill!). I can find Bodega with the box checked and everything, but can't seem to find any new software I didn't see before in add/remove. I have since separately downloaded nestopia and snes. They are both working with the Sixaxis and everything (especially snes, wow!)...I just downloaded xe, so we'll see about it. I just feel like I missed something with Bodega....should I have found new emulators already there after Bodega, or is Bodega WHY the emulators I downloaded later work? Also, on the side, I'm running 480i (i know, i know), any direction on tips for sizing screen, reducing window, etc? I keep getting turned in circles for some reason. Thanks!

Instead of browsing through Add/Remove software, try searching for "emulator" instead. I hardly ever use the GUI Add/Remove software and will have to check on that sometime... it may be they're just not showing up in the browser. The default YDL repos offer very little as far as emulators, so without the ps3bodega repo you wouldn't see snes9x-gtk, xe, nestopia, sdlmame/sdlmess, etc. You can check the repoview page for the full list: http://pleasantfiction.ipower.com/ps3li ... group.html

su -

You didn't include the hyphen after su so it's not finding the chkconfig command. Use su - with the hyphen instead of su by itself.

That's:

Code: Select all
su -

Not:

Code: Select all
su

Also note:

su -l and su --login are the same as just su -

See the manual page for more info:

man su

Also, billb - correct me if I'm wrong - but don't you recommend not using PS3bodega, and Fedora/Dribble/Livna at the same time? You should pick one or the other configuration, but not both, right?

Also, otakusupreme - if you're using Fedora/Dribble/Livna with 6.2, you should disable Yellow Dog Extras.

Per billb's post:
Howto: Install software (the easy way) YDL 6

Note -- the same third party repos still appear to work OK with YDL 6.1. The additional repos may cause problems with YDL 6.2. If you want to use these third party repos with 6.2, at this point I'm recommending that you disable the yellowdog-extras repo (change enabled=1 to enabled=0)

The big slowdown you're seeing is because Fedora Extras and Yellow Dog Extras conflict with each other in YDL 6.2. Disabling Yellow Dog Extras will make the Add/Remove Software process much speedier.

Cheers,
Paul

It depends. I'll let billb give you the definitive answer - since I don't use ps3bodega - but it's my understanding that if you've installed a lot of software with Fedora/Livna/Dribble, you should stick with them, due to library differences.

Otherwise, yes - you can delete the repos.

Again - you may want to wait until billb chimes in here - I only use Fedora/Livna/Dribble or build directly from source. :D

Sorry - my time is too short tonight. I have to go back to work. However, the link has a good explanation of how to do this:
http://www.yellowdog-board.com:80/viewt ... 017#p11364

It would be the gedit command section.

i.e.

su -l
<enter your root password>
gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-extras.repo

And - if you can't delete the repos, you could always set enabled=0 in them. And - remember - that's "s" "u" "space" "dash" "lowercase L".
