YDL 6.1 Mouse Not Working (Linux Noob Needs Help)

Hi guys, so my mate just installed YDL 6.1 on his 60GB PS3 using the old installer (as the new one was advised for 80GB's/160GB's).

Anyway, the mouse he is using works fine in the GameOS, the light inside the mouse comes on to show that it is recognized but when YDL was installing the mouse cursor wasn't moving and the light on the mouse wasn't coming on. I figured that was just an install issue but the mouse just isn't working.

We have tried different ports, different mice and rebooting it but to be honest we are both noobs when it comes to YDL (or any other type of linux really) - so any advice would be appreciated.
