Sorry - due to double posting, I had to lock the thread. Otherwise, I have to delete the user and/or their posts.

As for the SPU scaler, it accelerates video scaling for mplayer. That's it. You can't really use it to play HD video, but if you have a SD video, you can use it to scale it full screen if you're running at 720p or 1080p.

I had answered you in that thread - I don't know if you saw that or not:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=7213&p=38603#p38604

If you have further questions about the SPU scaler, feel free to post them as a new topic. :D

Cheers,
Paul

Nothing unless you're planning on rebuilding the mplayer-mt-ps3 RPM from scratch. IIRC, those were files requested to allow a rebuild of the RPM with a different compiler than gcc.

The main thing is that jaybps3 has already compiled an RPM of mplayer-mt-ps3 - with the content of those files already included - and posted it on ps3bodega. Just install per his instructions here:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=7213#p37124

If you just need a build of mplayer-mt-ps3, and you're using gcc or ppc-gcc, you don't need to re-build the spu scaler object file with those files. You can simply use the precompiled spu scaler, which is what I and jaybps3 did.

I detail how to do that with gcc earlier in this very post:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5975&start=60#p36528
and with ppu-gcc here:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5975&start=75#p36623
and multi-thread w/ppu-gcc here:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5975&start=90#p36723

Paul
