The videos used to play perfectly, but now I get the following error in a reddish bar on top of the video:

VlcTube: Unable to find video source

Any ideas? My standalone VLC player still works just fine. I've tried the full reinstall of the vlc firefox plugin, greasemonkey, and vlctube, but no luck. Thanks for your help.

I don't know if this is related, but YouTube did a big update of their player software recently. It broke for Gnash 0.8.5/0.8.6: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=6853

This was working perfectly - now it's dead. :(

I saw that not too long ago... I'm getting an eye on the thread about Gnash 0.8.6 you mentioned.
Thanks for your work and investigation.

Well, the timing of my VLCTube not working coinciding with gnash not working anymore in youtube is certainly very suspicious. Does anyone still have VLCTube working in youtube?

Hi Greg,

I'm suspecting that my problem is that I'm running Firefox 3.0.12, as VLCtube hasn't worked since I accepted that update. I'm new at this Linux stuff, and can't figure out how to go back to an older version of Firefox. How do I do that?

Thanks.

I've only been into this for about year now but my best guess would be to try and uninstall greasemonkey and vlc tube first, reinstall them then if that does not work:

as root
Code: Select all
yum erase firefox

then pop your 6.2 dvd into the drive, browse to /media/YellowDog/firefox-3.0.6-1.ydl6.1.ppc.rpm and install with system installer.

Hello
before you do that try downloading vlctube again, there was an update on the 23rd oct which has fixed the problem those meddling kids at youtube created
I use firefox 3.0.12 and vlctube stopped working but with the updated version is ok again
there's been a major change in youtube as none of my addons or userscripts now work except for downloadhelper and new vlctube
60Gb ps3 otheros awol. currently playing:bad company and farcry 2 again (seeing how far I can get using permadeath principle)update: regretfully Warren Clyde was involved in a shootout south of Pala and killed when he was hit by a land rover. RIP Warren

Everywhere - no one charges for it. :D

If you add additional software repositories to our default repositories, you can have YDL load it automatically:

VLC installation instructions are here:

P.S. Also - if you haven't read through this post, you should:

Hi,

I recently did a clean re-installed of YDL to upgrade from 6.1 to 6.2.
Since the upgrade, I have been unable to get YouTube videos to play in Firefox (was working in 6.1).

I am using Greasemonkey 0.8.20100211.5 and have tried:

HQTube - * prompts message "HQTube needs updating. it is no longer compatible." - I am assume this is not supported in 6.2?
MTube
VLCTube
YouTotem

But all result in a blank white area where the video should be.

Here are some additional details of packages I have installed:

ffmpeg.ppc 0.4.9-1.ydl62.bdg installed
ffmpeg-libs.ppc 0.4.9-1.ydl62.bdg installed
firefox.ppc 3.0.14-1 installed
gstreamer.ppc 0.10.20-3 installed
gstreamer-plugins-base.ppc 0.10.20-3 installed
gstreamer-plugins-good.ppc 0.10.4-4 installed
gstreamer-tools.ppc 0.10.20-3 installed
mplayer.ppc 1.0-0.73.20070612svn.l installed
mplayerplug-in.ppc 3.45-1.lvn6 installed
mozilla-vlc.ppc 0.9.5-2.ydl62.bdg installed
totem.ppc 2.16.7-4 installed
vlc.ppc 0.9.5-2.ydl62.bdg installed
vlc-core.ppc 0.9.5-2.ydl62.bdg installed

Am I missing something?

Thanks,
becond
