Note: I took out my machine name and domain.

Code: Select all
Linux xxx.xxx.com 2.6.27-1.ydl61.4 #1 SMP Sat Nov 15 17:29:28 EST 2008 ppc64 ppc64 ppc64 GNU/Linux

I'm not sure how useful this information is going to be, since the effect shows up at the kboot: screen before the root arguments and kernel are loaded, and I don't believe this tells you the otheros.bld that's loaded in the firmware.

Also - the effect shows up in the GameOS with PS2 emulation running at 480p, as detailed in our posts.

But - hey - if it helps, enjoy! :D

Cheers,
Paul

The CECHKxx doesn't support PS2 games.

Ah - yes - mea culpa. :)

Do you see any distortion on your kboot screen at all on the CECHK?

No, it looks fine. Using the bootloader from the YDL 6.2 install DVD.

Well it seems I have been spared this problem on the ydl side of things my tv and ps3 model info is in my sig.

here is the code

Code: Select all
[Jon@localhost ~]$ uname -a; cat /proc/cmdline
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.29-3.ydl61.4 #1 SMP Mon Sep 7 14:50:27 PDT 2009 ppc64 ppc64 ppc64 GNU/Linux
root=LABEL=/1 video=ps3fb:mode:131 rhgb quiet

and the only ps2 game I have that says progressive scan on the back is syphon filter dark mirror, I will try that and edit back.

EDIT: ok I tried every combination of ps/ps2 upscaler and smoothing with progressive scan turned on, and with progressive scan turned off. And I can safely say there is no visual problem with this particular title.

I have the launch 20GB model. You can find the actual model number in the signature. You can also see the television I am using. I tested Tekken 5 with progressive scan turned on as well as with scaling activated. No aberrations to report. I haven't tested my YDL 6.0 install but it seem that if ps2 issue and the ydl issue are intertwined.

Hello everybody,

I followed your discussion here, myself having a CECHC04 model (60 GB European launch edition). The CECHCxx model isn't mentioned in this thread and I haven't updated yet (of course I won't do that until this problem is solved - alone because I fear SONY might not be motivated in solving such problems now...).

My question is: Is there anybody out there who can tell that the CECHC04 or CECHCxx models are safe or at least seem to be safe? Or does anybody of you having a CECHCxx model also have problems over HDMI connection?

Thank you very much in advance and kind regards

I have a UK 60GB launch model CECHC03 which is working fine with my display via HDMI at 1280x720.

Code: Select all
[myname@localhost ~]$ uname -a; cat /proc/cmdline
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.29-3.ydl61.4 #1 SMP Mon Sep 7 14:50:27 PDT 2009 ppc64 ppc64 ppc64 GNU/Linux
root=LABEL=/1 video=ps3fb:mode:131 rhgb quiet

As mentioned before, it seems that the way the PS3 interprets the EDID information in the display changed in firmware 3.10

If so, it's down to the particular model of display that you're using (not the PS3 model) which will determine if you'll see the issue.

Let's hope Sony fix this in the next firmware.

Thanks paulxtr,

so it's better for everybody not to update if they haven't done already.

Concerning SONY I hope for nothing... I'll swap to a different hardware platform, but not this early - so I need YDL quite a little bit (got no PC).

I ran:
uname -a; cat /proc/cmdline
and got:
Code: Select all
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.29-3.ydl61.3 #1 SMP Thu Jun 25 12:22:41 EDT 2009 ppc64 ppc64 ppc64 GNU/Linux

Sorry for the delay. I hope it helps.

I see they're beginning to talk about 3.15 today, though they don't mention any fixes ...
