Righteo guys. First of all im using YDL 6.2.

this is my repolist

Code: Select all
repo id              repo name                                 status
PS3Bodega            PS3Bodega repo for Yellow Dog 6.2         enabled
base                 Yellow Dog Linux 6.2 Base                 enabled
extras               Yellow Dog Linux 6.2 Extras               enabled
fedora-extras        Fedora Extras                             enabled
updates              Yellow Dog Linux 6.2 Updates              enabled

Now the problem im having. At first youtube wouldnt work (firefox 3.0.12), so i did the vlctube tut
Code: Select all
yum install vlc mozilla-vlc gstreamer ffmpeg

then installed greasemonkey & vlctube script.

Now when i go into youtube & click on the clip i want to watch, its telling me to 'additional plug-ins are required to display all the media on this page'. I then click install (in the top right hand corner underneath the toolbars. It'll then search for an appropriate plug-in. Upon searching, i get a 'No suitable plugins were found' then underneath that 'Unknown plugin (application/x-vlc-plugin)' & a "Manual Install" button beside it. It then takes me to the VLC website. At first i thought this was rather strange cause i followed the steps to install VLC, the greasemonkey addon & vlctube script. So i went to open my VLC player from applications > sound & video. clicked on it, but no VLC program showed up. I clicked on it again, but still nothing.

No im unsure if ive done anything wrong, but i have followed the steps for setting this up, accurately. If anyone can help with my problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, im more than happy to list additional information if needed. Thanks guys....

I don't have VLC on the 6.2 version of ps3bodega yet (this is mentioned in my setup guide for it). Been working on building it and the loads of dependencies off and on for the past few days ... hopefully I'll have it ready soon.

I used the same tutorial (Noons posted in my topic here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=6992).

It worked fine. I did a "yum update" first as well. You have VLC installed too right?

That's the problem -- VLC is not installed because it's not available in any of the repos he has configured. In the tutorial Noons posted it's suggested to use the repos from the "How to Install Software" guide on this forum (livna, fedora-extras, and dribble). In that case, you get VLC from the livna repo.

@Dirty Demon -- the 6.2 version of the ps3bodega repo is meant to be a stand-alone addon, using yellowdog-extras in favor or fedora-extras. See the setup guide here -- http://pleasantfiction.ipower.com/bodeg ... f=28&t=555

You could probably just change your repo configuration over to the one suggested here on this forum and install VLC:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3017

Or use the YDL 6.1 version of ps3bodega which includes VLC:
http://pleasantfiction.ipower.com/bodeg ... ?f=28&t=21

Another alternative, and I haven't tried this on YDL 6.2 yet, would be to use totem instead of VLC as described here:
viewtopic.php?p=22554#p22554

Again I hope to add VLC to my repo soon, but it's a real pain to build with a LOT of dependencies that need to be added as well.

Totem didn't work for me. I kept getting errors with it. I advise against using it, but maybe I did something wrong in the process.

I just installed VLC a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure I only had ps3bodega and the official YDL repos. Maybe I had the 6.1 version of ps3bodega? I merely did "yum install vlc"

If you can't tell, I'm very new to this, and Linux.

Can you guys of sheer wisdom point me to what other packages i need to install? & im unsure which repo im getting the VLC from, it says excluding packages from fedora & livna, Im sure ive got the repos set up correctly (i changed ydl-extra from enabled=1 to enabled=0)

Try:
Code: Select all
su

<root password>

Code: Select all
yum erase faad2

Code: Select all
yum install vlc

Code: Select all
exit

I'm thinking maybe you have an updated faad2 rpm from when you had configured the 6.2 version of ps3bodega.

I have VLC 0.9.8a in ps3bodega for YDL 6.2 now. Just tested installation on a fresh install of YDL 6.2 and it worked fine. There are still some problems with playback of certain formats but it seems mostly OK.
