Cant input password

Hey my name is Yngve
I all new to linux so go easy on me
I have resantly installed "yellowdog-6.1-ppc-DVD_20090201_NEW_PS3".
The install went good. But when I thought about trying to edit the resolution im "stuck".
I can log into my account. but when I try edditing anything that require the root password I cant get any further...
Terminal or text mode its all the same. I can type in my username, but not my password. It just wont let me. I can press enter but then it says "Login incorrect"...

Yellow Dog Linux release 6.1 (Pyxis)
Kernel 2.6.28-0.ytj61.1 on an ppc64

Lenovo-ideapad Login: root

EDIT: Its the same when I use my username and password...

It's letting you type your password -- it's just not showing anything.

Thought that I have tried that too. I'l try that tomorrow and see if that is it

I find this interesting. Is the Lenovo-ideapad using a PowerPC?
