http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/s ... axis.shtml

Which worked up until it told me to press the controller button to pair. I did, NOTHING. WTH do i do?

EDIT: Heres my google search if anyones interested: [MODERATOR EDIT: Pulled due to content]

If you're using YDL 6.2, there is a bug with Bluetooth in the kernel. You'll need to run Software Update to pull a newer kernel that fixes the issue.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR!Being a complete noob with the idea of linux and non gui apps i kind of just stumbled around the page trying to look for what i needed. so the yum update should take care of it.

EDIT: yup, i paired the ps3 controller, but i couldnt get it to work in xe emulator, so i downloaded snes9x and am using that. what can i to with usb controllers? i only have one bluetooth, along with 1 ps2 controller (with usb connector) and a wired 360 controller.

Here's how to confirm your joysticks are working outside of an emulator:

http://pleasantfiction.ipower.com/bodeg ... p=624#p624

For the Xbox pad you'll need to use an updated kernel that's currently available from the ps3bodega testing repo.

To set up that repo:
http://pleasantfiction.ipower.com/bodeg ... f=28&t=555

Regarding the testing repo:
http://pleasantfiction.ipower.com/bodeg ... 95&start=0

To get the updated kernel from the testing repo once you have it set up:

Code: Select all
yum update kernel --enablerepo=PS3Bodega-testing

Then reboot and plug in / test your Xbox controller.

The stock kernel works with regular USB controllers. The one from testing is only needed for Xbox. I've only tested it with original Xbox 1 controllers but it should work for 360 as well -- I just don't have any to test. Let us know if it works for you!

Yes, it did work, mind you it is with one of the original corded 360 controllers. There is a good chance it won't work with the wireless/charger cable controllers from my experience with windows.

I am having troubles with the ps2/3 controllers in setting up for snes9x. It wasn't so bad with the bluetooth controller, but I can't seem to configure the ps2 conroller correctly. It seems to have too much sensitivity, when I set the button it sets the one after it too. Also, the buttons should be named "Joystick 1 Button 13" (like the ps3 controller) but instead uses an axis ( Joystick 1 axis 7-50 for some of the buttons) is this just a problem with the default kernel? It works perfectly in windows. Remember, the USB plug is meant for ps3, so it should be the same configuration as the Bluetooth controller.

Make sure you run through the calibration routine within snes9x-gtk before configuring the controller, and you'll need to press all the buttons as well as move the sticks since the pressure sensitive buttons behave as axes as well. On the PS3 controllers only the PS, Start, and Select buttons aren't pressure sensitive.

I have to remap buttons because they dont show right (like the "up" button, i had to redo it because it registered as an axis the first time) note that the "x" button (triangle) shows as a button. The ps3 controller is all buttons. I calibrated the controller before i did this.

Sorry, but what exactly is the problem here again?

Your PS2 controllers are probably going to require a different configuration than your PS3 controllers ... or anything else that is mapped differently. Look at the output of jstest /dev/input/js# (replace # with the actual joystick number) if you need to compare.

Woop, my bad, the problem is that I seem to have to press the buttons unnessesarily harder, and they seem to stick. Take donkey kong country. Pressing the run button (square) makes it like the button is constantly pressed. There is no way to get out of it, you automatically pick up barrels. To throw the barrel you press the button again, but it's still stuck. I thought this might have something to do with the emu picking the button up as an axis.

Is this with the Sixaxis, and after running the calibration tool within snes9x-gtk for that particular controller, pressing all the buttons & d-pad fully as well as moving the sticks?

No, the six axis is fine. After doing calibration and pressing the buttons on the ps2 controller, i tried again. Circle, X, and Square all show up as axis inputs, even though triangle comes in as a button - and this is every time.

As far as im concerned with it, the controller plug is made to use the ps2 controller in the ps3 os, it should be the same button configuration. And as far as i can see it is, apart from those 3 buttons. and its those 3 buttons that screw up.

Controller problems again, I'm getting pissed off right now. Why after having my Bluetooth controller set up properly and running perfectly, does it now decide to not work?? I can configure it in the snes9x, and then when I try to play, only my triangle square circle and cross buttons work!? I've tried rebooting, re-pairing, nothing works! This happened once when I used my friends controller with my ps3 before, when that happened it worked the night before, and when I went to use it in the morning it wouldn't work..

Any suggestions?

Sorry but I don't have any ideas other than trying the calibrate / configure option within snes9x-gtk again.
