other other OS options

I will try to keep the backstory short...

I have kept 3.15 via the DNS spoof for now.
I have backed up my YDL partition and reformatted.
(the extra 10gig saves me from buying a new hard drive for a while)

Now my question is, what other OS's will run on the Cell?
Don't get me wrong, I like YDL (hence the backup) but while
everything is "up in the air" I figured I would experiment a little.
Not really interested in other linux distro's as YDL has the most
support (6.1 especially) and the best forums!

And, if the new exploits and potential drivers DO open up more
performance, is there anything that would become an option that
isn't already?

That's going to be a problem - since the other options are all Linuxes.

Someone posted on the cbe mailing list that they were starting a port of FreeBSD a day or so before Sony announced this new firmware closing off OtherOS access.

More interesting to me seems the question which of these distros will be continued in the future. If I understood right, YDL support for the non enterprise version will run out this summer. Will there be any further versions of YDL, such as 6.3 or 7.0? And what about the other distros running on a PPC?

Ubuntu and OpenSuSE dropped official support for PPC already, and I've read that PPC support may be dropped in Fedora 13 (need to confirm this, though).

In other odd news, I found all of my BeOS discs. There is a PowerPC version on the discs - it was for Power Macintosh and clones - but I couldn't get kboot or petitboot to recognize the disc. I might try to see if I can get qemu to boot the PowerPC image.

It would be cool if OtherOS could boot BeOS - but I wouldn't hold out much hope for that.

On a related note, does anyone know how Xubuntu works vs. YDL performance wise? One was configured specifically for the PS3, while the other is meant to work on slower machines. Which one should I install?

Cobra, I would suggest YDL , not that I have used xubuntu. I know the online assistance for YDL runs better.
