linux & sdlmame, problems with sixaxis

Hi dudes,
I've this problem in my scenario:

1) working YDL6.2 system lastest update using normal repository + bodega
2) working SDLMAme

when I want to use my sixaxis, I connect and:

1) I can see in the syslog the sixaxis correctly connects my system
2) I can see the /dev/input/etc... created
3) jstest confirm me that sixaxis is working

... but I can't use any of them on SDLMame!
please note that my mame.ini is quite a standard... just added the required switch: sixaxis 1

I can see all the leds of my sixaxis is always blinking, is this normal ? has onyle the first led to be on? isn't it ?

how to solve or debug this problem ?
