glibc 2.7?

Im trying to follow the guide that was posted here for installing mplayer-ps3..

I just cant seem to figure out how to upgrade to glibc 2.7 or greater. Im at 2.5 and everytime I try to update it says this:

Be EXTREMELY careful doing this!!!

If you update glibc, you could break YDL functionality - possibly permanently. Also - most of us won't be able to run anything you compile after you upgrade.

We generally do not recommend upgrading glibc unless you're prepared to install YDL from scratch in case everything goes pear-shaped.

Also - if you read thru the post, you'll see I compiled a version of mplayer-ps3 without updating glibc:

and multi-thread/ppu-gcc here:

Thank you so much for the help, it works wonderfully and it is really a huge improvement over VLC.
