install FW V3.15, how

Someone please help:

I just bought a fat ps3 160gb, it was new and sealed inside the box.
Please advise how to update its FW to the latest that has OtherOS to install YDL6.2, is it v3.15?

Actually - you may just want to leave it as is, unless there's something 3.15 specific you want in GameOS. OtherOS basically doesn't care. I don't believe we have a specific OtherOS version requirement for YDL 6.2.

If you still want to upgrade it - *sigh* - to 3.15, I sure hope you downloaded a copy before Sony updated their site to 3.21. Otherwise, you'll have to find somebody who's posted it on their site - Sony does not make older versions of their PS3 firmware available. They only keep the latest version - in this case 3.30 - which isn't OtherOS compatible.

In other words - I wish I could downgrade my PS3 from firmware 3.15.

Actually, Sony does still have versions down to at least v2.70 available...the following links are from http://boardsus.playstation.com/t5/Play ... p/36966406 (they seem to be correct based on the dates of the folders containing the .PUP files):

v3.10 - http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net ... 3UPDAT.PUP
v3.01 - http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net ... 3UPDAT.PUP

Note that if you're going to use PS3 Linux via HDMI, stay below v3.10 or you might not be able to do 720p via HDMI.
