Downgrade 3.21 firmware to 3.15

Hello i am new to this website forums, basically not asking anything that is going to criminal me on this question, here is the question, can you be able to go back to 3.15 from 3.21 patch on PS3 so you can be able to install yellow dog linux?


here is my 2 cents on this 3.21 and not able to use another OS on the PS3

first of all Sony shouldn't decide on changing the programming because of individuals that cannot secure their OS, if they do not know how to use the program they shouldn't install it second, the people that i know, Knows Linux when they install it and worked out the bugs to make everything work should know the security aspect of the OS too.. i have 30 yrs or so in the IT knowing pretty much from fortran to old 8 " diskettes IBM's from the 70's, bah i am babbling here, it should be the consumer at fault if they are having security and having hackers attacking there PS3 not the ones that have experience in the field. yes i know that people even with many yrs exp in the linux OS will have security problems but not as bad then those are inexperience.. Overall it should be our decision on what we put on the PS3 since we spent the money to play games and able to PS network with friends. But this is my opinion.

The quick answer is no.

The long answer is mostly no.

Normally, Sony has a check in the PS3 that prevents you from "downgrading" a firmware. If you've installed 3.21, you can't go back to 3.15.

However - some folks have reported that you're able to downgrade 1 version by using the "safe mode". This was apparently a Sony safety valve, in case a bad firmware got out.
