vlc just quits

well i didnt have a problem with it doing this before but now i would like to convert videos through vlc. when ever i go to a file select screen and i click on a folder vlc just quits. so i ran from command line with the -v option and this is the error it is giving me

if anyone could give me a clue on how to fix it, it would be appreciated. btw here is my vlc version. vlc-0.9.5-2.ydl62.bdg

Open a terminal window and enter this command:

/usr/lib/qt4/bin/qtconfig

On GUI Style, make sure Cleanlooks is selected, or perhaps anything but GTK+. Then go to File and Save.

Then try running vlc again.
