Yes it works great, and it's also installable from the ps3bodega repo ... yum install opera ...

I'm updating it to the latest release today (10.60 internal). Testing right now.

Also you can download/install the RPM from the Opera site directly -- just get the Centos PPC version. Here's the link:

Yes, all versions I have tried in the past were working good.

And you can also use IBM Java 6.0. For Java setup instructions see at first here
(of course you don't need the part for Firefox, just install):
http://www.yellowdog-board.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2935

And then here: http://www.yellowdog-board.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2944

Edit: Uups - haven't seen the actual Java 7 discussion here ('cause I'm not so active over here anymore):

I installed opera 10.60 last night going like dream, no difficulty at all. One thing though ,whenever i switch to os install my user name and password , it take up to 10 min before the desk top appears, can i do anything about it or is the amount of stuff i have on ps3 hardrive. thanks for replies. :)

That's an unusually long time ... on my system it takes about two minutes from the second I switch to OtherOS for the desktop to appear. The amount of data on your drive shouldn't have anything to do with it, but there are quite a few other factors that could be involved. What desktop you're running (Gnome, E17, Fluxbox, KDE, etc.), what services are loading, and so on ...

Here's the output of chkconfig --list on my system:

You can access the Services GUI screen from System -> Administration -> Services on the menu, or launch it from the command line with system-config-services

Also you can enable/disable services from the command line with, for example:

Code: Select all
su --login

<root password>

Disable yum-updatesd (automatic updates):
Code: Select all
chkconfig yum-updatesd off

Enable yum-updatesd
Code: Select all
chkconfig yum-updatesd on

From man chkconfig:

Code: Select all
By  default, the on and off options affect only runlevels 2, 3, 4, and 5

Typical Linux runlevels are listed here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runlevel#T ... _runlevels

Could be something else going on, too ... are you getting any odd messages during startup? Will probably split this off into a different topic later ... :)

Yea you can configure opera so that you can have all your pages ie this site, your google page email page and up to 22 other pages at the touch of a button. Its easy to download and install even i can do it. I find it works better on my ps3 than on my laptop especially 10.60. When you download it click on (configure opera ) it tells how many home pages you can choose from. :)
