YDL 6.2 in fullscreen question...

I edited my gedit.conf and changed it to 131. This helped and made it fullscreen. Although it is a bit over-scaled but not to bad. Is there an easy fix to make it fit perfect? (if not I can live with it like this) It isn't that bad. Better than the black bars all the way around imo

There's two ways.

1.) See if your TV/Monitor has a "full pixel" or "1:1" mode. On my Bravia, it's called Full Pixel.

2.) There's a guide here to use a utility called fbset to create custom screen resolutions.

Since you're using 6.2, don't worry about the custom kernel it mentions - fbset is already built-in to YDL 6.2

Cheers,
Paul

I'm not seeing it. This HDTV is only like 2 years old or less too. :(
My picture options - zoom 1, zoom 2, 4:3, wide fit, screen fit, 16:9
Although in Linux it will only let me use 16:9, 4:3 & Wide fit. Fit to screen is blacked out along with zoom1 & 2. Is there anyway to force the TV into allowing me to use all the options? lol

Are you using Component cables by any chance? The choice you'd want would be "screen fit" but it might only do that for HDMI.

Paul

P.S. Just guessing here - I don't have a Samsung - only a Sony - but it follows those rules.

Yes. I'm on component cables on phat... I have a Monster HDMI cable on slim but I actually like the way component HD looks too. (hardly any difference but imo looks a tad better on component. even though I know HDMI is 1080p and component cables is 1080i. although i do like the features the PS3 gives you with HDMI) I had the component cable on phat due to watching blu-rays on that box. I'll switch HDMI to phat and component to slim & see if it works.

Just a side note. Component should be able to do 1080p on the PS3 as well. At least, my Bravia will support that - I'm guessing the Samsung will as well.

HDMI connections are often the only ones that HDTVs have the exact pixel fit option. That's the case on my Sharp Aquos (I don't recall the exact option name), but I can only do that at 1080p since I have the FW 3.1x problem of no 720p via HDMI. The best setting I have at 720p via component just barely cuts off a few lines of pixels, so works pretty well. Some TVs may also have not-publicly-documented service menus that MAY have options to fine tune settings, but that could be a do-at-your-own-risk-if-you're-that-desperate kinda thing. www.avforums.com has a lot of TV tech stuff and seems to be a good place to ask technical questions like that.
