Again, your internet connection has absolutely nothing to do with it.

In snes9x-gtk, try Options -> Preferences -> Sound and uncheck "Synchronize with sound"

Also, on the Display tab, check "Use 2 threads for filtering and scaling"

You haven't installed IBMs Java correctly.

1. Did you install IBM's Java?

2. In following my instructions posted above, did you create the symbolic link for Java as required?

From a terminal window, type the following commands:

Code: Select all
which java

and

Code: Select all
java -version

You should see something like this:

Code: Select all
[ppietro@localhost ~]$ which java
/usr/local/bin/java
[ppietro@localhost ~]$ java -version
java version "1.5.0"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build pxp32devifx-20071025 (SR6b))
IBM J9 VM (build 2.3, J2RE 1.5.0 IBM J9 2.3 Linux ppc-32 j9vmxp3223-20071007 (JIT enabled)
J9VM - 20071004_14218_bHdSMR
JIT  - 20070820_1846ifx1_r8
GC   - 200708_10)
JCL  - 20071025
[ppietro@localhost ~]$

NOTE: I'm running Java 5.0 - Java 6.0 will look a little different. The main thing is that you shouldn't see this:

Code: Select all
[ppietro@localhost ~]$ /usr/bin/java -version
java version "1.4.2"
gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.1.2 20071124 (Red Hat 4.1.2-42)

Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
This is free software; see the source for copying conditions.  There is NO
warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
[ppietro@localhost ~]$

If you see this output - that's why Frostwire isn't working.

Cheers,
Paul

Eh - that's not exactly true. I use Enlightenment exclusively - and I don't have that much trouble with it.

These are pretty basic issues - I think they'd be happening in Gnome as well as Enlightenment.

Nope - happens all the time.

Just reboot - you should be fine.

The only way to get Frostwire to work is exactly as I've outlined.

Basically - it's not easy to get Frostwire to work. That's why most of us don't use it.

Which IBM Java did you install?

Good - then - if you followed my instructions, at some point you should have installed IBM's Java. This would have required you to go on to IBM's website and download it.

So - again - I ask: Which IBM Java did you download?

No - there isn't a less difficult way to use Frostwire. My way is the only option - that's why I posted it. Sheesh.

Here's the reasons:

1. Frostwire is a Java application.
2. The built-in Java - the one you've listed - is too slow and too old to run Frostwire.
3. Only IBM has a modern Java for PowerPC Linux.
4. Sun's Java is for Intel (x86) only.
5. Unless you load IBM's Java - you can't run Frostwire - as simple as that.

Oh - and - don't bother doing any of the rest of the steps I've outlined for Frostwire until you install IBM's Java.

Especially the creation of the symbolic link - that's the ln -s ... command.

Without IBM's Java in place, there's nothing to link to, and you'll break your regular, slow Java.

Removing Frostwire from your system is easy, BTW. Assuming you loaded the Frostwire I posted a link to earlier:

1. Open a terminal window

2.
Code: Select all
su

<enter root password>

3.
Code: Select all
rpm -e frostwire-4.13.5-2

4.
Code: Select all
exit
