i guess i have to roll up the old sleeves and install IBM's Java. wish me luck

fast question, what makes my media player stops all of a sudden?
mediaplayer like audioplayer, movieplayer, emulator, rythembox. im running the program, smooth sailing, everything works perfectly and after a while it stops funtioning. i got to sometimes shutdown programe/close window and play again

What causes that to happen, and what can i do to prevent it from happening again?

If it's the only program you're running, then I don't know. I generally don't have trouble playing MP3s with the built-in Movie Player (i.e. Totem Movie Player)

An easy way to install IBM's Java since you're using the ps3bodega repo:

Open a terminal window and enter:

su

<root password>

Code: Select all

yum install ibm-java-ppc-jre

Code: Select all

exit

Done. Note you still need to use any other steps provided to get something like Frostwire working.

is tther no way preventing my emulator from freezing?
because its getting difficult to pass couple stages of Secret of Mana while the freezing keeps happening.
because whats da use playin a game and its just gona freeze up on you and you have to start all over

For Frostwire - as outlined in my posts:

1. Create a symbolic link for IBM's Java

2. Open up your PS3's Firewall to allow Frostwire traffic.

3. If you're using Wireless, and your PS3 has one of those 192.168.1.x IP addresses, setting up Port Forwarding on your Wireless Access Point/Router so that Frostwire's bittorrent works correctly. You don't do this on your PS3 - you do this on your Wireless Access Point.

I'll give you a hint for all these problems that your having in enlightment... Don't use the enlightment session, because it's full of problems.. <_< Switch to some other session like Gnome or KDE or something else.. Just don't use enlightment..

Eh - that's not exactly true. I use Enlightenment exclusively - and I don't have that much trouble with it.

These are pretty basic issues - I think they'd be happening in Gnome as well as Enlightenment.

Thought I guess you could be right about the second part about basic issues, but for me basic issues occur less often, and if I do have issues this site helps for an easy fix...

Again - that's your experience - not mine. Like I said - I use it as my primary desktop environment. It works fine for me - and in some cases - uses less memory than Gnome.

I'm not trying to get into a shouting match with you or anything. I'm sure that for what you're doing - and how you have your PS3 configured - Gnome or KDE works better.

But - you can optimize Enlightenment too, if you're so inclined. This is what I've done - mainly to advise new users.

u know what, the hell with frostware, because configuring my access point just sound too high tech. so if thers no video or images to SHOW me how todo it, then im going to remove app. ain't going thru with it.

thers no solution for my emulater from crashing

someone recommend installing Zerogame Project emulator, saying that would make my problems solve?

You don't have to do anything. Enlightenment is much simpler than Gnome under the hood. It uses less memory right off the bat - with no optimization.

Check it out - using the free command. Both of these were taken just after initial login, with Nautilus loaded in both, and in the same state.

Enlightenment:

The standard Enlightenment distribution doesn't include Nautilus - it's actually a Gnome application. When you start Enlightenment in YDL, it loads Nautilus to give the Desktop icons.

quick question
why is it take long to extract a RAR file?
im on a site wer i can dload a movie and thers 3 parts (megaupload) to it, im finish dloading part one and try to watch/extract it and its taking real long, after 5 -6 min waiting, its stop extracting and ask me to eter password again? do you think i have to dload all three parts befor extacting it?

Second: why my movieplayer wont load mkv file? it doesnt even say buffuring?
and is it me or why cant my ps3 linux cant work with 7z and zip files?(it wouldnt let me view its contents)

and why cant i use the cheats from gamegenie to cheat on my game secret of mana, i enter the right codes but it looks like it not using the cheat? like example, one code is for Start new game at Level 16, but when i start new game, its still at level1 , even with the box checked
