I see I don't have audacity in the ps3bodega repo yet, and judging from that package name it looks like your system is grabbing it from fedora-extras. :?: ps3bodega for YDL 6.2 isn't designed to work with anything but yellowdog-base, yellowdog-updates, and yellowdog-extras. I'll see about adding it.

Can you post the output when you try launching it from the command line?

EPEL isn't needed since Fixstars took everything that was in EPEL that worked for YDL and rebuilt it for yellowdog-extras for YDL 6.2. Livna and Dribble were designed to work with Fedora Core 6 and EPEL or yellowdog-extras have some different versions of various dependencies, so it's possible that can cause issues, too.

Let's have a look at your current repo setup and see what to do from there:

Re: updating from 6.1 broke a few programs ???

Postby billb » 24 Aug 2010, 22:17

This may be somewhat challenging since you're using an unsupported configuration for my ps3bodega repo -- as I mentioned back in your other topic:

viewtopic.php?p=39628#p39628
Also if you plan to use ps3bodega you'll want to remove all the others, including your existing ps3bodega.repo file.

Currently you have dribble, epel, fedora-extras, livna, and ps3bodega all enabled (the ones ending with ~ are just backup files created by gedit and not used), and you're also using the yum-protectbase. You have to be root (use the su command to temporarily become root) to view the yellowdog repo files -- that's why you're getting permission denied errors -- so I'm not sure what you have there. yellowdog-extras should be enabled.

Since you may have some packages updated from those repos which may be incompatible, it could be a real mess. I'd start with fixing your repo configuration, running yum clean all, uninstalling vlc (yum erase vlc), uninstalling yum-protectbase, then reinstalling vlc (yum install vlc).

Ok thanks for the tip on the copy and paste code I did t know that I'll use that fro now on. Ok so vlc I will do the complete uninstall after I disable the other repos. But about audacity for me to get that reinstalled is it possible for me to disable all the yum and ps3bodega repos and just have the fedora extra , liven , and dribble repos enabled just the the moment just to get that installed ? It's cause I edit a lot of music etc and i kinda need that program, is that possible from what I mentioned by chance ?

Not sure about that -- if possible I'll provide a rebuilt version of audacity sometime tomorrow.

OK, I was able to install and run audacity on YDL 6.2 with the default repos and ps3bodega for YDL 6.2 like so:

1. Download this (right-click, save as, double click on file to install):
http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/a ... c6.ppc.rpm

2. Download this (right-click, save as, double click on file to install):
http://pleasantfiction.ipower.com/ps3li ... n6.ppc.rpm

(must be done in that order)

Didn't test much but was able to import an MP3 and play it back.
