Mednafen RTC

Postby CarnifeX » 06 Sep 2010, 20:00

I already have Mednafen installed, I went through the cfg scripts in nano to see if I could enable RTC. I didn't see it though, is there a way to do it?

Which version do you have installed? On my last update on ps3bodega I enabled RTC for GBA (or tried to, anyway):

Well, I have whatever version was included in your bodegas package. I only installed it like a few weeks ago so it should be your modded patched version right?

By the way, all I did was...

$: yum install mednafen

I didn't compile it myself, i'm still new to linux and need guides when compiling.

Probably the latest version ... confirm with:

rpm -q mednafen

Should be something like: mednafen-0.8.13-1.0.8.D

However, since I never actually experienced problem with games that required RTC enabled I don't know if it fixed it or not. If you're still having issues with that please let me know the name of the game & system emulated.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure my patch was based on this forum topic -- http://forum.fobby.net/index.php?t=msg&goto=1782&

What's your repo setup look like? Please post the output of:

Code: Select all
su

<root password>

Code: Select all
more /etc/yum.repos.d/*

If you're using YDL 6.2 / PS3 and the ps3bodega for YDL 6.2 you should be getting my latest version from a yum install. The version you have is from all the way back in the ps3bodega repo for YDL 6.0.

Here's the setup guide for ps3bodega for YDL 6.2 (only YDL 6.2 is supported):

That's all of it.

I am running YLD6 not 6.2

Does it matter which one I have to get the RTC patch?

Oh ... OK. Any particular reason why? Just don't feel like going through the process of reinstalling?

I don't know that my RPM built on YDL 6.2 would work on 6.0, if that's what you mean. You could always try installing it directly from the link I gave above, but it may fail to install due to dependency issues.

Otherwise, if you're building from source, I can provide the patch I used if that's any help (will need to add that later -- my PS3 is busy right now  ).

Ya pretty much. I have fluxbox up and running, I have wireless setup, all these games and save states. A lot of it I set up and don't know how I did it haha. Well I followed along with a lot of what you did and what not but it would be a lot of work to re-do everything. Plus my computer crashed and I need to save money to buy a new computer, so I can burn a YLD6.2 cd. =(

Ill try that, but if that doesnt work, is there anyother ideas you have so I can get the RTC up and going?

If you could let me know what game causes problems at what point without RTC I could at least confirm the patch works before you go through all the trouble.

Aside from installing from an RPM package that already includes the patch, you'd need to compile it yourself. Or it's also possible that my source RPM could be rebuilt on 6.0 if the one from 6.2 is a no-go. (oops, I see I need to upload that)

The game is Pokemon Emerald. It has Real time events and it's pissing me off haha.

So if you rebuild a source for 6.0, could I still use my save states for all the games I have after I install the rebuilt one?

Is it something you see immediately? Just trying to get an idea of what to look for ...

Well, you'd be the one rebuilding it ... I'd have to re-install 6.0 to do that, but I can help out at least. And I don't know if there were any changes between the 0.8.A and 0.8.D versions of mednafen that would affect your save states ... you may want to check the mednafen forums and/or the documentation for that.

Right when you start the game, it would say, " the internal battery has run dry " if RTC wasn't enabled for mednafen. Which is my problem.

Haha, ya i'd be re-building it. Not without your help though! I can just put my save states on a flash card, no biggie. If they are not compatable with the new one I install, oh well.

So after I'll remove mednafen, then what's my first step for installing the new one you upload?

Before we try that... have you tried installing the one I linked to earlier?

Save to your Desktop, then double-click to open with Software Installer:
http://pleasantfiction.ipower.com/ps3li ... dg.ppc.rpm

It may fail to install since it's built against newer versions of things in YDL 6.2, but it's worth a try.

I'll check on that game in a bit.
