No need to reinstall -- here's how to reset it:
1. Reboot
2. At the kboot prompt, press the TAB key once before it autostarts (you'll have about 5 seconds) to bring up the default kernel option, then add a space and the word
single then press ENTER
3. Eventually you'll arrive at a # prompt. To change the root password, enter this command:
- Code: Select all
passwd root
It should go something like this:
passwd rootChanging password for user root.
New UNIX password:
[enter new root password]Retype new UNIX password:
[enter new root password]passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully.
Then
reboot -- you're done!
