PS3 slim and YDL

Postby Rhys » 31 May 2012, 15:28

Hello, I'm quiet interested in installing Yellow Dog Linux on my ps3 Slim, but i don't if it is really possible!

Currently I have a PS3 Slim 320Gb with the latest firmware 4.11 and on my computer I have recently downloaded Yellow Dog Linux 6.0 (ISO file).
Can somebody tell me if I can install this version of Linux on my PS3 Slim?
Please tell me in details and stepwise if possible!

Thank you in advance for your reply! :)

I can say that *if* it's possible it would require custom firmware (on any PS3 slim, or launch PS3 past FW 3.15). Also, I'm not sure if there are ways to install custom firmware once you've gone past 3.55, but I don't keep up with the PS3 hacking scene at all. Best to ask this question on another forum -- we can't really go into any details on this sort of thing here.
PS3 60GB [CECHA01], FW 3.15, YDL 6.2, Samsung T260HD @ 1920x1200
Powermac G4 1.25 GHz x2, 2 GB RAM, YDL 6.2
