I am wondering what version of YDL I should be looking to install on this thing. Any help would be appreciated.

I can tell you that i have been waiting for a reply to my problem for over a day now and received no reply but Ubuntu went up without a problem on my G4 powermac no problems

ubuntu-6.10-desktop-powerpc

is the exact file name of the install i used. The only problem with the ubuntu one is after it installs to install anything else requires a ethernet connection I say ethernet because I am still working on getting NDISwrapper to install my win2k drivers for my wireless adapter.

sorry dude, YDL is PPC only, any PowerPC based machines before Intel transition would work.

If you are keen on running linux on your Intel Mac, try Ubuntu 7 or PCLinux 2007 or Sabayon or any linux distribution for PC, make sure you download the 64bit version. First try linux flavours in vmware and parallels(if it doesn't have a live CD or you don't want to partition & reformat your hard drive), install whatever flavour suites your need.

Go for Sabayon 64bit it's the only distro that I know of that has Flash working out of box and YouTube bla bla bla. That alone is a big sell point to me. I had Ububtu UE 64 on my AMD box but could not watch flash videos so I went to my pile of Linux distros and found my Sabayon 64 LIVE, popped it in and Flash videos worked.

It has to be a 32bit version of Flash in order to work... but that leaves me with one question.... How come Yellow Dog does not do that... you know out of box until Adobe makes a Flash for 64bit processors?

Please play attention to the post dates -- the last one in this thread was Mon Sep 10, 2007 ...

Anyway, yes Adobe provides a 32-bit version of the Flash player, but that's for x86 32-bit, not PowerPC 32-bit.
