install on a strawberry imac

Postby zipshark » 08 Aug 2004, 03:34

i'm trying to install ydl 3.0.1 on my old (fruit colored) imac. i'm totally new to linux and was hoping that this would be a good way to put my old imac to good use, and trying to go "linux only" on it. i'm forced into the text install cuz i guess my monitor ins't supported, and i get through most of the installation, selecting the software package and setting up usernames and passwords, but when it comes time to actually install it, the computer says "Error enabling swap device hda4: this is most likely caused by the swap partition not being initialized." and then i have to re-boot.

I've tried this several times, both using the auto partition and also the partition druid thing.

any suggestions

hm,
if you have to start over i guess you could partition it
correct while you reinstall OS9.

just leave a unpartitioned area.
ydl will take it
