What kind of display are you running this on, and which mode are you installing in?

Brand / model # ?

I wonder if there's a problem with it supporting 720p vs 1080i or 1080p? There's at least one plasma with that problem.

it it is not the keyboard that freezes!

the actuall installer on the screen sorta does, the next button stays pushed and nothing happens, but i can move the mouse so it is not completly frozen

I misread the part re: your display -- never mind.

Since it appears you're the only one experiencing this problem, I'm thinking it could still be some kind of problem with your install DVD, although you mentioned it did pass the media check.

Check that the sha1sum is correct, burn the DVD on the slowest speed with imgburn, and see if that helps. See instructions for all that here.

Also, did you try removing and re-inserting the keyboard as suggested? Not sure why that would make any difference, but sounds like it's worth a shot ...

Good luck! :)

Not sure what to suggest ... haven't seen this problem before.

If possible, try a different keyboard & mouse ... although the only keyboard I have read about having an issue was a keyboard for the PS2 and that was back on YDL 5.

Unplug any other USB devices so you have only your keyboard & mouse plugged in.

Confirm that you have the bootloader from the YDL 6 DVD.

Initially there were two versions of the YDL 6 ISO on the FTP servers ... make sure you used this one:

yellowdog-6.0-DVD_20080207.iso

Sorry if I'm repeating anything, but have you checked the sha1sum on the iso file to confirm it's OK?

And when you burn the DVD, are you using a program such as imgburn that has a verify option?

You can find sha1sum instructions in this post.

I also encountered the same problem as Onni92. It stucked at the Keyboard selection screen whenever I tried to select the appropriate keyboard.

I tried following steps:
1. Verified my DVD with MediaCheck (burned using Nero)
2. Tried to unplug and plug-in again the keyboard
3. Reboot PS3 and tried on different options (US English, US International)

In GameOS, the keyboard is working fine. It only went wrong when came to the Keyboard selection screen. I am new to Linux and now I really run out of ideas.

Btw, my keyboard is A4Tech (Normal Keyboard). Please HELP!

anyone faced problems by using Logitech NewTouch 200 keyboard?

P/S: I am installing YDL 6.0 using the image "yellowdog-6.0-DVD_20080207.iso" from "http://mirror.anl.gov/yellowdog/iso/"
